Since summer 2020, visitors to the World of Wine (WOW) – a new cultural district in Porto – have been following in the footsteps of wine, history and culture in the heart of the historic wine cellar area around Vila Nova de Gaia. Six museums, nine restaurants, bars and cafés as well as shops, event halls, temporary exhibition spaces and its own wine school offer visitors not only insights into Portuguese wine production on 55,000 square meters, but also gastronomic and cultural experiences with a wide view over the city and the Douro River. On the way to becoming Porto’s new must-see, the restored former port wine cellars provide an ideal backdrop for Europe’s largest tourism project in 2020.
